The Hope Conference of Jackson exists to uplift cancer survivors and caregivers through compassionate emotional and spiritual support, meaningful connections, and the powerful sharing of personal testimonies. Lighting a path of hope, encouragement, and healing for every journey.

ABOUT HOPE CONFERENCE of JACKSON
The Hope Conference of Jackson began in 2003 at First Baptist Jackson, born of a shared vision to connect, encourage, and support the local cancer community. That vision took shape after conversations among local representatives of the American Cancer Society, the former Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and First Baptist Jackson—conversations inspired by cancer survivor Susan Mason.
After attending a cancer survivors conference at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, Susan was deeply moved by the sense of community, encouragement, and hope she experienced. She returned to Jackson with a passion to create a similar space where cancer survivors and caregivers could find support, understanding, and renewed strength close to home.
Building such a conference required collaboration across the community. With the support of local nonprofits, healthcare professionals, and dedicated volunteers, a coalition was formed. Together, Baptist Cancer Center, St. Dominic’s Cancer Center, the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and the Mississippi State Department of Health established an annual conference offered free of charge to cancer survivors, caregivers, and healthcare professionals.
Each year, attendees benefit from presentations and conversations with physicians and cancer experts, gaining practical guidance on diagnosis and treatment, end-of-life considerations, and long-term survivorship. Alongside this education, the Hope Conference provides emotional and spiritual support while fostering meaningful connections among survivors and caregivers.
